Coldplay have released a snippet from “Midnight,” the first single to be released from their sixth studio album expected sometime later this year.
The teaser came with a video that takes place in a spooky forest with clips of the band members, a fox, trees and the sky interspersed. The group has been tight lipped regarding further album or single details.
Earlier this month, Coldplay confirmed an appearance at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.
They will perform as part of the iTunes Festival at SXSW, marking the first time iTunes has brought its own festival to the event. Coldplay takes the stage alongside Imagine Dragons and London Grammar, who are also set to perform on March 11 at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre. [Source]
Amid all the Oscars hubbub, Coldplay has announced a brand new album.
The band’s sixth studio album, Ghost Stories, is set for release on May 19. It’s led by the album’s first official single, Magic.
The popular British rockers first debuted new music last week with the moody, ambient Midnight, a Bon Iver-esque track produced by London musician Jon Hopkins. [Source]

Coldplay are auctioning off memorabilia from their Mylo Xyloto world tour for charity.
The band have donated instruments and stage outfits used during the shows in an online auction to raise funds for Kids Company.
The charity works with vulnerable children and young people in London and Bristol.
The sale comes ahead of the band’s charity concert, Under 1 Roof, on 19 December at London’s Eventim Apollo.
They’ll be joined for the show by David Brent and Foregone Conclusion, Lily Allen, Dynamo and Rizzle Kicks. The evening will be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton.
Chris Martin said: “Buying a ticket to this concert will guarantee two things: a totally unique never-to-be-repeated night of star-spangled entertainment, and money in the Christmas coffers of a charity that brings love and happiness to London’s most vulnerable kids.”

Coldplay have announced they are once again putting on gig Under 1 Roof in aid of Kids Company, which works with vulnerable children and young people in London and Bristol.
The show takes place on Thursday, 19 December at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London.
Coldplay will be joined by Ricky Gervais’ current musical sideline: David Brent and Foregone Conclusion.
Lily Allen, Rizzle Kicks and magician Dynamo are also on the bill.
